Communication is point to point, each controller receives the message and forwards it to the next controller. The motor controllers are based on a STM32F070RB microprocessor. The application is RS485 communication with a chain of motor controllers. Is the hardware I am using at it's limit? Do i have to upgrade the PLC and Communication Module to achieve higher rates of messages per second? How is it possible that this module is slower than the gateway? Here the troughput is about 18 messages per second. However with this module the communication is even slower. ![]() This is why I tried a CM1241 module which is directly attached to the PLC. ![]() The gateway is connected via PROFINET and I thought this would be the limiting factor. So the maximum throughput of message is about 60 messages per second.įor some applications this is not enough and I was looking for a faster alternative. So to receive a message, process it and send the reply takes at least ~17ms. The message which are sent have a fixed small size of 13 bytes. I'm using this setup to communicate to a motor controller. With a PROFINET IO to RS485 Gateway (see link below) ![]() I'm using a S7-1211C V4.2 and TIA v14 SP1 Upd9.
